Gardenview, Biggin Hill

Welcome to a hidden garden full of surprises.

Freda has transformed this garden into a beautiful, peaceful and welcoming horticultural oasis.

Behind the house is a sunny patio full of interesting pots that welcomes visitors into the garden.  Acers with their colourful leaves,  pots with summer bedding and terracotta pans bursting with various semperveriums are dotted around.  A pergola smothered with an ornamental vine with various clematis growing climb  through offering restful shade in the heat of the day.

A winding stone path leads you past flower borders bursting with interesting shrubs and perennials towards the old orchard.  An old tree has been transformed into a modern sculpture and opposite is a secluded, sheltered area with table and chairs that beckons you to “rest awhile” and enjoy the tranquillity of the garden whilst listening to the birds singing and the gentle splash of frogs as they plunge into the small hidden pond.  Facing west it is the ideal place to sit and enjoy the evening sunset.

Passing through a gate you enter the Old Orchard where the apple trees, planted many decades ago, still provide a good harvest every autumn.

This area is a favourite with children as they can  run around and enjoy playing.  The “Wise Old Owl” statue at one end of the orchard is a firm favourite with the younger generation.  Another border, full of colour, has been planted along one side – this is Freda’s on-going project.

Statues of all shapes and sizes have been strategically place throughout the garden to draw your eye from one area to another.

At one end of the Old Orchard is a well-used and well-stocked greenhouse in front of which are raised beds with a good selection of vegetables growing.
