NGS Open Garden, 8th July 2018

We have another lovely day of weather for my first National Garden Scheme opening of the summer. It was a quieter affair to the previous week, so visitors were able to take in the full glory of the garden.

The garden was again brought to life with live music from the wonderful Vocal Eclipse and local musicians which included Frank McConnell. The Scratch Band. Keith Halford
Derek McGonigle and Ivan & Freda.

Another afternoon enjoyed by all.

I will be opening again on Sunday 19th August, 12pm – 4pm. Please note this is the same weekend of the Biggin Hill airshow, but traffic should have quietened down by the time we open. We also might get to see the Red Arrow fly by, as they often circle the sky around Biggin Hill for the show, and in previous years they have flown directly over the garden!

Visitors from France

I was delighted to again welcome a coach load of visitors from overseas to my garden. This time my visitors were from France and there were 27 altogether.

They loved the garden but most of all they thought the pot luck and my cards were great fun and said it made it an interesting and fun visit.

Music in the Garden 2018

We had another fantastic day in the garden on Sunday 1st July 2018 for our annual Music in The Garden event.  We were again very lucky with the weather, which was fantastic and had approximately 218 visitors on the day.

An extra thank you to The Carefree Singers, Westerham Local Vocals and Peter Sinclair who entertained us all afternoon, and to Ivan who accompanied me on the Accordion.

Also thank you to the ladies running the stalls and who gave their time and the lovely ladies who kept us all refreshed with delicious tea and cakes.

Together we raised over £1,800 for the ed the garden and for the NSPCC.

Also special thanks to Nick at NE Gardencare, Karen from Premier Cuisine and Love Products who helped pay for our promotional flyers.

New flowerbed in Orchard

I have been busy adding new features to the garden and this week I have finished digging out and planting in a new flowerbed in the Orchard, just outside my greenhouse.

I felt the orchard needed a little extra feature to it, especially as I have already added some flowerbeds to the side.

I am very please with the outcome.

We are opening for 2018

Get your diaries at the ready, because Freda’s Garden is opening up to the public this Summer.

Freda will be opening her garden with a full afternoon of musical entertainment on Sunday 1st July (2-5pm). This is always a popular event, and along with the new changes Freda has brought to her garden, this will be a truly wonderful afternoon not to be missed by both new and frequent visitors. Alongside the entertainment will be light refreshments, Freda’s art gallery (where visitors can purchase copies of her prints) and a variety of stalls. This year Freda will be raising money for the NSPCC.

Freda will then be opening her garden as part of the National Garden Scheme Open Gardens on Sunday 19th August (12-4pm). This will be an opportunity to enjoy the tranquility of the garden in the latter part of the Summer. The afternoon will offer light refreshments to visitors, and again they will be able to visit Freda’s art gallery.
